4. DEAD ZONE EFFECT ACTION PLAN

Weir replacement

• The weir currently acts as a barrier to migrating fish from the Tasik Chini and Sungai Chini.

• Weir replacement help to connecting the Tasik Chini and Sungai Chini. This will allow fish to access parts of the Sungai Chini
that have previously been limited or not available.

• It also will attract further wildlife and create greater biodiversity in the surrounding areas.

End deforestation

• Deforestation should stop as soon as possible to save the Tasik Chini.

• End deforestation while helping to restore lost forests is our best chance to solve the climate emergency, protect wildlife, and
defend the rights of orang asli communities

Land clearing of Typha latifolia (Cattail plant)

• Wetlands dominated by sawgrass to cattail which are choking and absorbing the oxygen in the water

• Removing cattail plant to ensure the distributions of Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) in freshwater lake of Tasik Chini and increase the
fish species.
