“I love him/her with all my heart, Klaws and all.”
This is the narrative of someone who has managed disappointment by accepting that no one is perfect and there is a lot worth loving considering what that partner provides for you. It is a lot of what keeps your love going, this acceptance of imperfection, but it is not the whole story or all the work.
If the hlaws are tolerable, ordinary and typify the human imperfections that make us human, that person is a probably a “keeper.” If your partner is not destructive to your self esteem, and you preserve and fortify each others’ self esteem, that is a healthy environment to nurture ‘good love’ — sort of.
Pulls, Pushes and Holds
I say “sort of” because human interactions have energies which push the relationship in different directions , three of those energies are “pulls”, “pushes,” and “holds.” “Pulls” are the energies of attraction and deepening love. “Pushes” are the energies of rejection and weakening bonds. There is a third energy, which is the energy which “holds” a relationship “in place.” When your relationship is going well the energy of staying in place represents balance and harmony, like when you are asked:
