We trade both physical and emotional commodities with our partners. Here are some of them:

• Affection
• Sex
• Validation
• Money and other material items • Loyalty
• Companionship
• Nurturance and caregiving
• Attention
The behaviors which demonstrate love and intimate connection are related to these commodities or currencies (and other ones). The “trades” or exchanges we make with these currencies are what creates the perception of “equity” or fairness (which I have mentioned before).
