The Move to Saskatoon and the Birth of
Geoffrey
n March 24, 1973, we flew to Saskatoon with our three kids. Our third child, Geoff had been born on December 28,
O1972 just before the move. Th e day we left Hamilton, a major snowstorm swept through the area, making our departure
memorable. When we arrived in Saskatoon, we were greeted by Dr. Ed Ashenhurst, who was wearing shorts. We must
have looked comical to the locals stepping off the plane in our heavy parkas, a stark contrast to the warm spring weather
awaiting us. We had shipped our car by rail.
