There was a long hall in between the kitchen and my room. The task: get a spoon from the kitchen.

The problem: at the age of eight, walking in the dark through an infinite hall seemed to be
                                the Magazine
impossible. My mom saw the terror in my eyes and challenged me. She asked me to walk through

the hall of darkness and not turn on any lights. She promised me she would be with me the entire

 time.

                                           IN THIS ISSSUE
After realizing that my tears would not change my mom’s mind nor the task appointed to me, I

decided to run as fast as I could, get the spoon, and come back. On my way, I remembered my

mom’s voice calmly reminding me that she was there, that I was not alone. As soon as I grabbed the

spoon, I ran as fast as I could just to find the arms of my mom who embraced me. Once I composed

myself she asked me, “What kind of monsters did you face along the way?” I laughed at the question

and then she lovingly asked me, “What was your real struggle?”

That experience shaped who I am, those questions have been with me my entire life. Miracle Grow 10

How many times do we come to realize that there are no real monsters and that fear of the unknown
               RaisingArrows 14
is the only thing stopping us? Life challenges us with tasks that might seem impossible, but Jesus

Himself promises us that He will be with us, holding our hand, encouraging us every step of the way.

God has positioned you in places of influence, in places that are ready to be conquered, but how

easily we lose sight of that. Victory for me was in the shape of the spoon. That day I learned I was
               Yes, Lord! 22
afraid of the dark, but I also learned He gives me the courage to conquer my fears.
