When you need to communicate with a station, you must activate a transmit

button associated with the position you want to transmit from. Thus, the

transmit button on the “Pilot side” activates the pilot's microphone if he has

connected his headset to the correct jacks!

               1.1.5 Transmit button

The transmit button is located by the pilot's index finger.

There is also a button by the thumb, but that one is for

               the autopilot!

So, if you can't get the radio to transmit, make sure you

               are pressing the right place!

If there is a fault in the system, there is a handheld microphone in most aircraft
that bypasses the systems and connects directly to the transmitter, and in case

of a transmission issue, using this might solve the problem!

               1.2 Radiotest / Squelsch

That was an explanation of the equipment we, as operators of the radio, work

with, but there may be different manufacturers, so study your aircraft's
equipment thoroughly so you can use it confidently without being a nuisance to

               others.

It can be a good idea to start with an initial call for a radio check to the air traffic

               service unit at the airport.

At EKHG, this is done using the following phraseology:

“Herning Radio SE-ITZ radio check on 121.005,”

to which the response could be

“SE-ITZ Herning Radio read you 5.”

Note that in the following examples of communication, the text will be in this
