1.1.4 Audiopanel

If the aircraft is equipped with multiple communication radios or other devices

that can be listened to, it is important that we can select which source we want

               to listen to.

To fulfill this purpose, the aircraft has an audio panel.

The audio panel controls the incoming sound as well as our transmissions, and
we can select which device we want to listen to. This can be COM 1, COM 2, NAV

1, NAV 2, ADF, DME, or Marker Beacon.

We can choose to output the sound through the SPEAKER or through the PHONE

               (our headsets).

The audio panel above is set to send sound from the DME and MKR to our

               speaker.

The MKR is receiving in HIGH mode, so it is at full intensity. When the MKR is

active, one of the three lights located at the bottom left will illuminate. The lights

are marked A, O, and M. They provide a signal (lighting up and producing tones)
when you pass over one of them during an approach for an instrument landing.

At the top left, there is a rotary knob used to select which
               radio to transmit from.

You can choose between COM 1 or COM 2. The EXT function

is not used in small aircraft, but in larger aircraft, the

transmission selector is set to EXT when you want to speak to the passengers.
