Local regulations are always found under item 16 in the VFG, and it is important
to familiarize yourself with these.
As may be seen, many of the points are due to environmental requirements.
At certain airfields, fines are issued for flying over urban areas near the airfield!
We have posed several questions about flying to EKVB and have found out, for
example:
- The opening hours are determined.
- Left-hand patterns are required because no other pattern is described.
- There are local regulations that must be followed.
But the length of the grass and whether there are any other urgent problems
at the airfield is unknown. To find out, we can check NOTAM, which we actually
are obligated to do!

On this day, there were no remarks for EKVB,
so no NOTAM.
But there was a NOTAM for EKHG. It can be seen below.
The start time for the NOTAM is 18.10.2024 at 20:00, and the NOTAM is valid
until 21.10.2024 at 05:00 (2410212000 is read as year, month, day, time in
UTC).
Under the start and end times, the NOTAM specifies what it concerns.
Now we have all the available information for EKVB and can safely fly there.
