Holders of an LAPL(A) certificate who do not meet the above requirements

must:

1. Complete a proficiency test with an examiner before they are allowed to

exercise the privileges of their certificate

or

2. Complete additional flight time or take-offs and landings, flying dual-

control or solo under the supervision of an instructor, to meet the

requirements of 12 hours and 12 take-offs and landings within the 24-

month period.

1.9.3.5 Familiarization and Difference Training

With an LAPL certificate, which is valid indefinitely, you may fly the class and

variant of aircraft you are trained on. Difference training and familiarization

training are the same as for the PPL.

1.9.4 Health and Medical Certificate

The requirements for being able to function as a pilot are somewhat stricter

than for driving a motor vehicle.

1.9.4.1 Medical Certificate

PPL

To exercise the rights granted by the PPL, the holder must possess a valid Class

1 or Class 2 medical certificate (Class 1 is for commercial pilots, Class 2 for

private pilots).
Age Class 2 (PPL) LAPL

LAPL
< 40 5 year 5 year
To exercise the rights granted by the LAPL, the
40 - 50 2 year 2 year
holder must at least possess a valid LAPL

medical. > 50 1 year 2 year
