                6.5 Noise limitation

Internationally, aircraft noise emissions are regulated by ICAO, the International

Civil Aviation Organization under the UN.

ICAO has adopted maximum noise limits that aircraft must comply with and be

certified according to. These noise limits have been tightened continuously, and

noise levels have generally been decreasing in aviation due to the phasing out

                of the noisiest aircraft types.

                6.5.1 Noise limitation provisions

The Danish Transport Authority has set noise limitation provisions for a number

of Danish airports and monitors compliance with these provisions.

These include overflight restrictions over named urban areas, a ban on turning

before a certain distance from the airport and time restrictions for certain types

                of flight.
