                3.6.8.8      Dangers of flying in poor visibility


                Flying visibility refers to the visibility from an aircraft and ahead.

                The danger of flying in poor visibility is:


                  -  Firstly, that you may fly into something you cannot see.


                  -  Secondly, that you no longer have a horizon to navigate by and risk spatial

                      disorientation.




                Also,  remember  that  in  poor  visibility,  there  is  a  tendency  to  overestimate

                distances.

                Objects are closer than you think!





                    Be aware of reduced visibility when:

                    -  Temperature and dew point temperature are the same, or nearly

                      the same.

                    -  Snow, drizzle or rain is reported.

                    -  Fog, Mist or Haze is present.
                    -  During inversions.

                    -  During dust and sand blowing.
