Meteorology

This type of occlusion often occurs in areas with smaller temperature

differences between the air masses. Warm occlusion typically gives mild and

stable weather, with light rain or snow. The weather resembles that of a warm

                front.

                3.8.8.2 Cold occlusion

                Cold occlusion occurs when the
cold air behind the front is

colder than the cold air ahead of

                the front.

The cold air mass coming from
the front is heavier and pushes

                the warm air upwards, resulting

in faster lifting of the warm air and, therefore, more unstable weather with

heavier precipitation, storms, and turbulent weather.

The weather resembles that of a cold front.
