Human Performance

Stress leads to a loss of alertness within a short time.

                Possible consequences of this:

                 - Channeled attention

                 - Inadequate communication

                 - Sloppy procedures

                 - Fatigue

If your stress level is high, avoid flying!

                2.6.3.2 Types of stress

There are different types of stress. Here are some of them:

                  - Acute stress - short time horizon, high intensity

                  - Chronic stress - long time horizon, low intensity, exhausting

                  - Personal stress - everything you bring from home

                  - Flight-related stress - what occurs during the flight

                2.6.3.3 Acute stress - 3 levels

                1. A situation arises.

Hormones are released, heart rate and breathing increase, blood sugar rises,
senses are sharpened, anger, anxiety. High level of attention.

If the situation is not resolved at this stage, either:

                2. Adaptation or resistance

Adaptation: the situation is accepted and the symptoms subside

Resistance: the body reacts to the situation and tries to repair the 'damage' that
                has occurred.

If this is not successful, the following occurs:

                3. Exhaustion, one gives up (resigns) and abandons oneself to fate.

If points 2 and 3 continue without relief, signs of illness, overload, reduced

                alertness and collapse occur.
