The 2016-2017 wrestling season was both unique and successful. it was unique in the fact that it featured five high-scoring wrestlers which included four
seniors and one junior. These ve scored enough points to have a successful dual and tournament season, even though they had to spot opposing teams as many as 36 points per dual and score with just the points the ve wrestlers generated.Three time state champion Tanner Skidgel, who accepted an appointment
to the Naval Academy, led his team’s challenging season. Although State runners-up Jake Hall and Dalton Abney didn’t reach their goals of being state champions, each had remarkable seasons and Dalton looks to become the leader of next year’s team. Miles Waller and Danny Anthamatten, who were both 3rd place nishers in the state tournament, made great contributions. Disappointment came in the team not being able to secure the runner-up spot behind national power Tuttle, but the team secured the 3rd place spot– an amazing nish for a team which didn’t ll a 14-man roster.
The future of Commando Wrestling looks bright. Seniors to be, Conrad Markert and Dalton Abney, will take the lead to make next year successful. Juniors Cameron Oliver and Brock Kelly, along with sophomores DJ Anderson, Jake Weller, and Grant Baber will add repower. Support from several incoming 9th graders, led by hard working Eli Grif n, will complete the roster and continue the pursuit of Cascia Hall excellence on the mat.
