Giving Encouragement and Showing Pride
Cascia Hall senior, Beau Bingham,
was named a Regeneron STS (Science
Talent Search) Scholar. As one of the top 40 nalists in the competition, Beau received an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. in March. There, the nalists presented their research and competed for additional recognition and cash awards. Some Cascia alumni living in the DC area attended the event to congratulate and encourage Beau and Mrs. Sally Fenska, his teacher and mentor.
This year, over 1700 seniors submitted their original science research projects to be evaluated by the STS team of top research scientists and judged for creativity, novel approaches, and scienti c contributions to solving many of the world’s biggest problems.
The STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science competition for high school science research students. In fact, President George H.W. Bush described it as the “Super Bowl of science.” During its 75-year history,

the STS program has included 12 students who subsequently achieved the Nobel Prize and many other prestigious science awards.
Congratulations to Beau and Mrs. Fenska for this tremendous accomplishment. This is the rst time a student from Cascia Hall has been recognized by Regeneron STS.
