“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is

unfruitful” (1 Corinthians 14:14). Its tendencies in thinking
that the prayer in tongues is solely involved with praying

in spirit can be frequently seen. It is true that the praying in
tongues is my spirit praying. But the prayer in tongues is not

all that is in the prayer of the spirit.
When the prayer in tongues is prayed, we start it at our

will. Yes, the receiving of tongues first happens through the
major changes in our spirit, rather than in our will. But, after

having re-ceived the gift of speaking in tongues, the praying
in tongues can be started at will. I can speak in tongues

whenever wanted. Even though the tongues can begin at will,
as time progresses my spirit begins to grow and naturally

begins to pray in the spirit. As such, speaking in tongues is a
very precious gift that connects human souls to the spiritual.

The Holy Spirit summarizes praying in tongues as a “Key
to opening up the heavens.” What must be remembered is,

to give it your utmost effort when praying in tongues. Try
doing so until your throat loses voice. Try doing it aloud. Try

speaking fast. As speaking in tongues may begin with ‘la la
la,’ when deep into the prayer, it returns to the ‘la la la’ stage.

The importance is to give it your best.
