Smith Makes Olympic Team
For Very First Surfing Event
South African Surfer and No:3 on the World Surfing
League has qualified for the forthcoming Olympic
games in Tokyo during 2020.
The announcement became official at the conclusion
of the Billabong Pipe Masters on the North Shore of
Oahu, Hawaii this week.
The 31 year old Surfer from Durban tweeted just
after the announcement:
“WOW - Dreams do come true. #olympics2020 It’s
been something I have thought about since I started
surfing. Such an honour to be the first male to qual-
ify, and on to of it all to represent #southafrica I am
so proud,”
Jordy will be competing against top surfers from
Australia, USA, France, Japan and Brazil on Japan’s
Pacific coast.
