AbeliA
beliA, born and raised in a little Harbour town called
AHartlepool, she sure as hell will blow you away. Known
to overwhelm audiences with her powerhouse vocals and
Southern scented vocal melodies, AbeliA has already been
claimed to be one of Nashville’s very own. Singing for over
three years she has gained opportunities in performing in
various venues across the North East of England to as far
as Cuba, as well as reaching American audiences with her
upbeat melody lines and heart felt lyrics.
Background story of ‘Believe’
The initial vision of Believe was to tell the story and struggles
of a young girl who deals with bad situations in her day to
day life which is evolved around mental health and
personal issues. The lyrics introduce and help you envision
this person back in her basic identity, age and appearance,
giving you an incling of her innocent and life. “ Seventeen,
Lips of an angel”. As the story draws into the centre of the
song and overall purpose, it is supported by the main theme
and framing device of believing, finding a way through the
Believe darkness. This is referred to “ Live like tomorrow is just a
dream away”.
Just like any song, the strong begins to unfold more in the
second verse, where it explains the pain she is facing men-
tally. It gives you a glimpse, or almost a capture of how she
thinks and feels mentally and physically – “ She lives in a
world, world full of doubt.. with no one to hold, no one will
shout”.
It’s that power of people recognising that someone is not ok
and needs the help, but people don’t see it on the outside
so assume they are ok on the in. This lyric idea was based
around how this occurs in society. The overall premise is a
symbolic message to everyone who may know or is suffering
from mental health issues and give everybody an insight –
that everyone has personal issues that we do not always see.
