makin’ tracks

here lately. The first was a recent songwriting contest
held at a local resort that I frequent. I entered the
contest just to see how I would do. I thought it was
just a local event but it was a state-wide contest and
there some award-winning songwriters from
Nashville there. I didn’t win, but I was within a few
points of some really accomplished songwriters, so
that really encouraged me to start taking my music
seriously again. The second thing was this
COVID-19 pandemic. I’m a teacher now and and all
the schools were closed, so I’ve been stuck at home
with my wife and dogs. I decided to use the time to
really put the time into the music that I’ve always
wanted to. Right now I’m working an album that I’m
tentatively calling “The Quarantine Sessions” that
should be ready in a few weeks. “Makin’ Tracks” will
for sure be on that record. So as unfortunate as this
pandemic is, it has been an opportunity for me to
pursue my dream of self-producing an album.
