Honors
Wildcats’ Baekers and Scarlet Knights’ Glatz claim weekly awards
Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week
Bente Baekers, Northwestern
F – Rijswisjk, The Netherlands – Wateringse Veld College
• Paced the Wildcats with back-to-back hat tricks to help Northwestern to a pair of road victories against
No. 12 Ohio State and Miami (Ohio)
• Became the first Wildcat to record a hat trick since 2017
• Has found the back of the net in each of the Wildcats' eight wins this season and her 14 goals are tied for
the most in the nation
• Earns her first career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor
• Last Northwestern Offensive Player of the Week: Lakin Barry (Sept. 16, 2019)
• Earns her third career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor and second in as many weeks
• Last Northwestern Freshman of the Week: Bente Baekers (Sept. 16, 2019)
Defensive Player of the Week
Gianna Glatz, Rutgers
GK – Jr. – Medford, N.J. – Shawnee
• Made five saves and allowed just one goal in a road victory over No. 6 Princeton, the Scarlet Knights’ first
win at Princeton since 1977
• Held the Tigers scoreless for 57 minutes, leading the Scarlet Knights to a comeback victory despite being
outshot 10-4
• Ranks second in the Big Ten with a goals-against average of 1.15 through seven games
• The Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her fourth career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award
and first of the season
