Fought Battle with No. 4 Maryland

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 18 Rutgers field hockey battled No. 4 Maryland (9-1, 1-0) throughout their Big
Ten Conference opener, ultimately falling 2-1. Tayla Parkes scored the goal for the Scarlet Knights (4-4,
0-1), while goalkeeper Gianna Glatz made eight saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Maryland struck first eight minutes into the game. Bodil Keus chipped a long ball into the circle, and
Linda Cobano deflected it in. In the third quarter, Cobano tallied her second goal of the game for a 2-
0 advantage.
The Scarlet Knights goal game in the fourth quarter. After a corner, Milena Redlingshoefer put the ball
on goal, and Parkes knocked it home to cut into the deficit.
RU had a series of chances for another tally, including a shot from Katie Larmour that was saved off
the line by a Maryland back. The Scarlet Knights pressed hard, but ultimately fell one goal short.
