STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – No. 16 Rutgers field hockey (10-7, 4-4 Big Ten) fell 3-1 to No. 14 Northwestern (13-
6, 5-3 Big Ten) on Thursday evening. Austyn Cuneo scored Rutgers goal.
Shots were 13-12 in favor of Northwestern. The Scarlet Knights had the advantage in penalty corners,
12-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwestern scored first, just four minutes into the game. The Wildcats capitalized on a turnover, and
their leading scorer Bente Baekers put the ball home. That 1-0 margin stayed until halftime. In the
opening frame, Rutgers earned four corners and had five shots, while goalkeeper Gianna Glatz made
six saves.
