Girls Field Hockey All-Area Team 2014

        By the Hour Staff

Samantha Bartusch, Sr. MVP, MF Norwalk

Scored 12 goals and dished out 12 assists after missing first two weeks of season for
the Bears … a center mid who was a solid player on both ends of the field, but
especially dangerous at the top of the circle during Norwalk's penalty corners … Was
named team MVP in addition to All-FCIAC First Team, All-Connecticut by MSG
Varsity and All-State in Class L … Will attend Merrimack College in Massachusetts
                                next year.

                                Amanda Hendry, Jr., GK Wilton

Took over the starting goaltending duties from three-time state champion Lizette
Roman-Johnston, and helped lead the Warriors back to the state title game where they
fell to Daniel Hand … Had 13 shutouts on the season and 91 percent save percentage
… Only gave up 0.41 goals against, too. All-FCIAC and All-State selection has already
verbally committed to North Carolina, according to reports.

                                Kristen Godin, Sr., Attack Wilton

Inside the circle, few were bigger or better at coming up with big goals for the Warriors
this year than Godin, an All-FCIAC East selection. Had multiple multi-goal games for
Wilton and was a key cog in the offense which helped lead the Warriors to the state
championship game for the fourth straight season.

                                Marissa Mastrianni, Soph, Attack Norwalk

The little one the Bears affectionately call "Mouse" was busy around the net this
season, slipping into the fray to score six goals and dish out six assists, good for 12
points on the season … Was named All-FCIAC honorable mention.

                                Alex Whalen, Jr., MF Norwalk
Was Norwalk High's second-leading points person this season, netting four goals, but
setting up 12 others over the course of the season … An All-FCIAC All-East selection
… Was especially adept at setting up All-Area MVP Bartush during penalty corners.
