AMANDA HENDRY
Wilton, Jr., G
* Player of the Year *
There wasn’t a more talented goalie in the state of
Connecticut than Wilton’s Amanda Hendry. The
University of North Carolina-bound junior was a
veritable brick wall in net, relinquishing just four
goals in 22 matches. Hendry recorded a staggering
13 shutouts and posted a save percentage of 91.
Warriors coach Deirdre Hynes noted Hendry’s all-
around athleticism and her ability to quickly move
around and adjust in the cage. She was named first
team all-state, first team all-FCIAC and was nominated for the all-region and all-American teams. Hendry — a
member of the U.S. U-17 National team — was also featured as one of Max Field Hockey’s Northeast Players to
Watch in the preseason. Amanda’s older sister, Madison, was named MSG Varsity’s Connecticut field hockey
Player of the Year last season.
Coach of the Year
DEIRDRE HYNES
Wilton, 15th year
While the Wilton Warriors didn’t come home with any postseason
hardware, they still finished the season as the No. 1 team in MSG Varsity’s
Connecticut power rankings. And much of it was due to the masterful
coaching of Deirdre Hynes, who guided the Warriors to a 17-4-1 record
and a runner-up finish in the Class M state tournament. Wilton also earned
the top seed in the FCIAC playoffs before getting upset by eventual champ
New Canaan in the semifinals. The Warriors finished as the No. 10 team in
MSG Varsity’s Tri-State Top 10.
