"We're coming together," said Wilton head coach Deirdre Hynes. "We're learning some things we need to
improve on and that's what we want early in the season, so we can start adjusting and tweaking the things we
need to focus on so we can play to the best of our ability in October and November."

Against a pesky McMahon team, the Warriors needed to make a halftime adjustment to open up the scoring.
Wilton led 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals by Kristen Godin and Delaney Chase, but the Warriors could have
had a much bigger lead.

McMahon sophomore goaltender Keara Meyerson, however, stood tall in the first 30 minutes, turning away 11
shots in the first half alone. "She's only a sophomore and this is her first full year starting," said McMahon first-
year head coach Steph Fazio. "Because our goalie made some beautiful saves, I think (Wilton) was itching to
score a lot more in the second half." That Wilton did as Meyerson and her defense of Emma Curtin, Isabel
Greco and Taylor Romeo could hold off the onslaught for only so long before Wilton overwhelmed the
Senators.

It took less than three minutes for Wilton's Megan Cunningham to make it 3-0 on a nice dribble drive on net,
beating the McMahon goalie in the corner.

"It was a sloppy first half," said Hynes. "I know we had a 2-0 lead, but our shots were basically going at the
keeper. We weren't challenging her enough. We were a little more accurate going to the corners and working
together in the second half."

McMahon's best chance at scoring soon followed as the Senators were awarded their lone penalty corner of the
game with 25 minutes to play. The set play worked to perfection, but Chelsey Mayerick's shot went just wide of
Wilton goalie Amanda Hendry, who didn't have to make a save. Then the Wilton offense started rolling.

Baxendale netted her first goal on a deflection off a McMahon defender's stick to make it 4-0 with 20:23 to
play. On a penalty corner, she sent a cross to Godin, who fired high into the corner to make it 5-0 with 15:07
left. Baxendale scored again seven minutes on a penalty corner pass from freshman Emma Rosen and with 1:11
left in the game Meredith Rappaport fed Baxendale a pass as the senior captain capped off her hat trick.
