‘We’ll Learn From it’: Wave Falls to Wilton 2-0

        Wilton scored two second-half goals to sink the Wave at Fujitani Field on Friday. It was a rare occasion: The
        Wave shutout, 2-0 in Darien’s first FCIAC loss of the season. Georgia Cassidy had a couple of kicks at the can,
        once on a rising shot from the right side in the scoreless first half. And again, when she swiped at Marissa
        Baker’s rebound at the goal line, flat out and flailing in the crease in a scramble with Wilton up 2-0 halfway
        through the second stanza. Baker broke in tight on a feed to the middle from Katherine Culliton.


        “I thought it went in, from our angle,” said Darien coach Mo Minicus. “It was scrappy. Just a scramble. The
        goalie made a nice save. We just weren’t able to put it over the line.
        “That would have been a game-changer.”

        Giving Darien a chance, on a day when the late scramble proved to be its best chance to get on the board,
        was Kaeleigh Morrill at the other end of the field. She rarely scrambled making nine standup stops.

        “She made some good saves,” said Minicus. “She stepped up, she did a good job. This is a high pressure game
        for her, for the first time. And I think she made some nice saves.” Darien put seven shots on goal. “They were
        clean, they were better,” said Minicus of the Warriors sharp play that saw Darien hemmed into its
