                                                                                        Thursday, October 23, 2014

The Wilton Warriors’ field hockey team will lead the FCIAC into the postseason in what promises
to be a wild conference tournament beginning on Saturday. The Warriors earned the league’s No. 1 seed with
an 11-1-1-0 record, which included a 5-1-1-0 mark against the rest of the playoff field. Wilton will host the No.
8 Greenwich Cardinals (6-4-3-0) in Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Cards handed Wilton its only FCIAC loss of
        the season, 2-1, on Tuesday.

The No. 2 seed was wrapped up by the Darien Blue Wave (11-2-0-0), which defeated Warde, 3-0. Darien will
host No. 7 Westhill (8-4-1-0) on Saturday in a rematch of a regular season game won by the Vikings, 3-2. The
Vikings finalized the tournament field when they edged the Norwalk Bears, 1-0, on Thursday, knocking the
Bears out of the playoff picture.

The Ridgefield Tigers defeated Trumbull, 3-0, on Thursday evening to tie Westhill, and the Tigers
took the No. 6 seed based on their victory against Westhill this season. Ridgefield will play at No. 3 Staples (9-
3-0-1) on Saturday. The New Canaan Rams will also host a quarterfinal game on Saturday, as they defeated the
Brien McMahon Senators, 4-1, Thursday night, jumping ahead of Warde in the standings. No. 5 Warde
(7-2-1-3) will play at No. 4 New Canaan (9-3-1-0)
