        Rams Shock WHS in FCIAC Semis

        New Canaan got a goal from sophomore Ellery Baran just 1:11 into the game, and the defense made it stand up
        with a superior performance as the Rams stunned top-seeded, 1-0, in the FCIAC semifinals on Tuesday in
        Norwalk.

        While Baran’s quick goal was the difference on the scoreboard, it was the defense which played the starring
        role. New Canaan held up against a relentless Warrior team, which generated 18 penalty corners, including 16
        in the second half. The Rams allowed just eight shots overall and only two off the corners. New Canaan had a
        chance to widen the lead during a penalty corner at the 13-minute mark of the first half, when Elizabeth Miller
        sent a pass to Rhian Ball at the top of the circle, but her shot was stopped by a kick save by Amanda Hendry.

        Wilton turned up the heat after that and began pressuring the Ram cage. With 13:30 remaining, the Warriors
        generated a flurry of shots in close, but goalie Sarah Klearman made three saves before the defense was able to
