Wilton Makes Big Statement with 2-0 Win
Over Darien

Coming off its biggest win of the season, last Friday’s 2-0 victory over Darien, things don’t get easier for the
Wilton High field hockey team as the Warriors hosted Fairfield Warde, in another clash of FCIAC unbeatens,
on Tuesday.
Megan Cunningham’s goal with 3:27 left in overtime proved the difference, as the Warriors survived with a 1-0
win at home.
Wilton improved to 8-0 in the FCIAC, and 10-1 overall, while Warde fell to 6-1-1-1 overall, and 6-0-1-1 in the
conference. The Mustangs only other loss is to unbeaten Simsbury, 2-0 on Sept. 15.
Amanda Hendry made seven saves in goal for the shutout, her eighth of the season.
The big win of the past week came last Friday, as the Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak against
defending FCIA Class L state champ Darien. The win snapped the Blue Wave’s 26-game regular-season
winning streak against FCIAC competition – the last loss coming two years ago against Wilton. After a
scoreless first half, the Warriors dominated the game in the second half, applying constant pressure on the Blue
