1973 911 CARRERA RS COUPE
The Carrera RS was based on the contemporary 911S. FIA homologation rules required at least 500 examples be built before Porsche could compete with the RSR. Weight reduction included a fiberglass ducktail spoiler, a revised front bumper, thinner glass, and reduced soundproofing. Flared rear wheel arches were also added for a wider track. After three production runs, 1,525 RSs were built, split into 1,325 M472 Tourings and 200 M471 Lightweights. There were also 55 RSRs for Group 4 racing, yielding a total of 1,580 cars.
1974 911 CARRERA RS 3.0
In 1974, Porsche developed the Carrera RS 3.0 with mechanical fuel injection rated at 230 bhp. The chassis was similar to the 1973 Carrera RSR, but the braking system was derived from the 917 competition car. Thinner sheet metal and a minimalist interior reduced weight. This RS 3.0 is in a rare desirable color, Lime Green, and was sourced from a Monte Carlo collector who raced his similar Grand Prix White RS 3.0 for over a decade starting on his 18th birthday.
