Bridging the Gap ISSUE 39 | SPRING 2025
HEALTH & SAFETY COMMITTEE CORNER
2025 COR Audit
Preparation for our 2025 annual Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit will be
initiated in the coming days. This year's audit will be carried out by an external auditor.
COR accreditation is awarded to employers that implement and maintain a Health, Safety
and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) that exceeds regulatory requirements.
Our HSEMS is a comprehensive system based on a "Plan, Do, Check, Act" cycle, focused
on continual improvement and is a proactive approach to reducing workplace injuries and
illnesses.
The audit activities will include observations of work activities, documentation
review, and interviews. Everyone has responsibilities and everyone has an important role to
effectively implement our HSEMS, maintaining a healthy, safe and environmentally
responsible workplace and helping us achieve COR accreditation. This includes:
• Participate in tailgate meetings;
• Participate in workplace inspections;
• Carry out equipment inspections and record it onto our online application;
• Follow Facca’s safety rules;
• Follow safe work practices, procedures, and policies; and
• Evidence these activities through records and documentation.
We look forward to another successful COR submission.
2025 HSE Goal - Being Prepared
A reminder that to help direct and focus our Health, Safety and Environmental
(HSE) strategy for reducing injuries, Facca has established the HSE goal to “Be Prepared”.
Being prepared for potential workplace injuries and illnesses can significantly reduce their
occurrence.
This preparation includes:
• Proper planning, planning for processes, people, equipment, material and the
environment in which the work will be carried out in;
• Effective hazard identification, review site specific JHA’s, remember to stop and
take 5;
• Implementing safe work practices and procedures, review those for the tasks
you’re carrying out;
• Thorough training, be trained for the tasks you're carrying out; and
• Planning effective responses to emergencies, should they arise.
