From May 27-28 the 9th annual Conference on Advanced Composite
Materials in Bridges and Structures took place in Winnipeg. Facca had a
strong representation at the event, particularly in the Bridge Engineering
technical sessions where the majority of the sessions were presented by
members of the Facca team Facca was also quite prominent in the
Advanced Composite Systems and UHPC Applications session

Luke Elmes presented a research paper on the Application of Ultra
High Performance Concrete for Prestressed Bridge Girder Repairs focusing
on the recent repair job at the Dillon Road underpass over Highway 401
        undertaken by Facca last November.

Philip Loh presented on the topic of Assessment of CSA
Prequalification Standards for UHPC Materials in Bridge Construction with
Emphasis on Tensile Behaviour and was an author of a research paper on
the Design, Modeling, and Experimental Validation of a Novel Splice
System for UHPC Piles which was presented by PHD student Amer
        Sabsabi from Western University.

Emad Booya delivered a presentation on Application of Engineered
Cementitious Composite (ECC) as a Bridge Deck Overlay: A Case Study of
Curry Street Bridge, Windsor, Ontario and a second one on Sustainable
UHPC H-Piles Cement Reduction with Glass Powder.

It was a successful conference and we congratulate our Facca presenters
on their hard work and hope they enjoyed themselves in Winnipeg.
