Appendix

               Process for Disinfecting Essential Patient Items Brought Into Hospital

               Essential patient items and/or food delivered to the hospital for a patient must be disinfected
               prior to delivering them to the patient care unit according to the following steps.


                  i.   Wash hands with hand sanitizer
                 ii.   Put on clean pair of gloves
                 iii.   Wipe each item individually with hospital approved disinfectant wipes and place in a

                       clean patient belongings bag
                 iv.   Once all items have been disinfected and placed into the bag
                          a.  Remove gloves

                          b.  Wash hands with hand sanitizer
                          c.  Close patient belongings bag
