Message from the President and CEO
At Unity Health Toronto, our strength is our people – the more than 11,000
staff, physicians and learners, and volunteers, who bring together their
knowledge, experience, compassion and creativity to reimagine the future of
health care. This strength is evident in every corner of our organization and
reflected in our vision of what we aspire to deliver to everyone we serve: The
best care experiences. Created together.
I’m pleased to reintroduce Unity Health Toronto’s first ever People Strategy.
This strategy, which ladders up to our five-year strategic plan, was designed
to make sure that everyone who learns, works and volunteers at Unity Health
has an inspiring sense of purpose and feels supported, empowered and
trusted to achieve their goals. The strategy charts a path towards equity,
diversity and inclusion and holds us all accountable to create a workplace
that nurtures our people, prioritizes mental health and well-being and
inspires the best ideas.
Development of this new strategy began in late 2020 and was guided by our
people, who told us what they needed from our leadership and Human
Resources teams to take our Joy in Work efforts to the next level. In this
document, you’ll find an overview of our People Strategy, including the goals
and priorities informed by our people, which begin to address how we lead,
grow and support them.
I want to thank our staff, physicians, learners and volunteers, who
contributed to this strategy, as well as our People portfolio, who made this
vision a reality. Unity Health’s Executive Committee and I are deeply
committed to the well-being, education and growth of our people and look
forward to watching our 11,000 staff, physicians and learners continue to
flourish with our People Strategy leading the way.
