My favourite memory during the past 20 years working
at St. Michael’s Hospital is attending the annual North
American Cystic Fibrosis Conference. I and other cystic
fibrosis (CF) team members were fortunate to receive
funding to attend these conferences, which are usually
held in the US. Attending these conferences allowed
me to present my research studies and quality
improvement projects. It provided me the chance to
learn about latest research into CF and innovative
treatment methods, so that I could improve the care
provided to our patients with CF. The conference was
also an excellent team building opportunity for our
team; we networked with other CF professionals from
Canada and internationally. At the conclusion of the
conference and its valuable new knowledge and
contacts, I usually took the opportunity to do some
sight-seeing in the cities where the conferences were
held.
