MAIMOONA SYED Favourite Memory
My favorite memory is when I started at St.Joes as a
Start Date: July 13, 2006 social work fellow in March 2006 which later
culminated in a job in July 2006.
I became a social worker inspired by my parents both
of whom who taught me the value of being respectful of
others, being non judgmental and also the fact that I
want to work in a profession that puts ethics, human
rights and social justice first .
I enjoy my work at St.Joes and feel privileged that my
work gives me the tools so that I can positively affect
the trajectory of someone's life when they are in the
vulnerable position .
Its an incredible privilege to be able to hear someone’s
life – story often about how their experiences have
caused them pain but more importantly how they have
developed the resiliency and ways to live with pain.
Patients are able to express their feelings in a way that
is cathartic and healing to them .
I connect with people naturally for who they are.
My job gives me satisfaction as I am doing something
that I am passionate about .
