In 2020, Unity Health Toronto established the Council

on Anti-Racism, Equity and Social Accountability

(CARESA) with all sites represented on the council. The

council’s broader mandate is to inform and oversee

transformational improvements in equity, systemic

racism and social accountability at Unity Health,

CARESA’s initial focus is specifically on anti-Black and

anti-Indigenous racism.
