GRATITUDE
Hand in hand with many of the above tips is simply appreciating what we have.
When we’re in burnout, we lose any sense of perspective. We no longer view our circumstances in a realistic way. With tunnel vision, we only see what’s going wrong. So often, the focus is on what we don’t have as opposed to what we do.
Gratitude helps right this imbalance. Studies on gratitude demonstrate that it’s a powerful elixir, providing calm, improving sleep, and building resilience.
Be present: at the end of the day, can you take note of three things you’re grateful for? This exercise -- noting three good things -- has been shown to reduce stress and build resilience.
