Membrane Bioreactors (MBR’s)
External MBR Systems are housed separate from the aeration basin.
As a separate system, mixed liquor, or untreated wastewater is pumped through
racks of membrane filled cannisters which contain bundles of tiny tubes.
The suspended solids are filtered through the small membrane pores just like
with the Internal/Suspended membranes.
External MBR systems are typically designed for smaller facilities.
