This same facility is now showing a decrease in Nitrite and Nitrate production.
Why is this occurring?
Influent Flow 2.35 MGD 2.35 MGD x 335 mg/L x 8.34 lbs/gal = 6,566 lbs
Influent BOD 335 mg/L
Aeration Basin Volume 500,000-gal 0.500 MG x 2,245 mg/L x 8.34 lbs/gal = 9,362 lbs
MLVSS 2,245 mg/L 6,566 lbs BOD ÷ 9,362 lbs MLVSS = 0.7 F:M
The BOD has changed the F:M and the F:M has now risen out of the minimum 0.2 range inhibiting
nitrifier growth.
