Stabilization Ponds & Sludge Lagoons
The Operator must be aware of following Pond or Lagoon conditions:
Know Your Data
✓ Know the flow patterns through each week and month
✓ Know the seasonal fluctuations of flow
✓ Monitor influent flow quality (by sight and by sampling analysis)
✓ Trend your data
Pond or Lagoon Observations
✓ Watch for excess algae growth on the surface
✓ Monitor Aerator, listening for unusual noises, check the support cables for corrosion or frayed cable
Stabilization Pond Effluent
✓Observe final effluent clarity and watch for solids in the sample
Pond or Lagoon Sludge Blanket Depth
✓ Know the blanket depth profile down the length of the Pond or Lagoon
