Multiplication and Division

These are the functions we use most of all in our water treatment calculations. Whether calculating

chemical dosages, flow rates, or determining the volume of a tank, multiplication and division is how we

get it done. It is also very important to understand and recognize the different ways multiplication and
division functions can be represented in our industry.

Work the following problems with a calculator as necessary and be on the lookout for incorrect answers

                as before.

                (4)(2) =8 8x7.5=60 90.1x12.6=1,125.26 (0.785)(7.48)(55)=322.949 (45.11)(80,000)=3,608,800

                6/2=3 9.10/3.42=1.66 2.0/9.0=0.22 1,440/24=60 100/2.31=43.29

                1,000,000/694.444=1,440

                                                                                                 6
                                                                                                                         5
                                                                                                        3
                                                               9
                (10,000) (500) (60)(24) =7.2x10 or 7,200,000,000 10 x10 =10 9 10 /3.33=3,030 500,000/694.44=720
Note – *10 is the same as 1,000,000; 10 is the same as 1,000,000,000 and so on…
