VetBooks.ir Bone Allografts
Bone cortical allografts are used to repair severe non-reconstructible
diaphyseal fractures as well as to reconstruct defects created by the
resection of tumors. Rejection of bone allografts is rarely a problem,
probably because of the absence of soft tissues in the graft.
Unfortunately, long-term bone allografts have a high incidence of
mechanical failure because the graft is resorbed before it is
replaced. Joints may be successfully transplanted in horses
provided that such joints have been previously frozen.
