Graft-Versus-Host Disease
  VetBooks.ir  Another syndrome characterized by excessive production of


               cytokines, especially TNF-α, is graft-versus-host disease. In this

               disease, described in more detail in Chapter 34, donor lymphocytes
               attack the tissues of the graft recipient. TNF-α from these cells
               causes mucosal destruction, leading to ulceration, diarrhea, and
               liver destruction.
