EAR TWITCH
Gently grasping the ear of a horse and twisting it slightly or pulling it downwards is another
VetBooks.ir method of restraint that is sometimes used. However it is not recommended as poor
technique can make a horse head shy.
HUMANE TWITCH
The humane twitch (Figure 24.18) is an aluminium tool applied over the horse’s muzzle. The
ends are squeezed together and fixed in a closed position with the attached cord. It works in a
similar fashion to the rope twitch, but is easier to apply to some horses. The disadvantage is
the shorter length of the handle if the horse raises its head.
