CAUSES
The acute inflammation can be the result of:
• a direct blow, e.g. hitting a jump (extensor tendon sheaths) or an overreach (DFTS)
• strains during exercise, e.g. tarsal sheath and DFTS
• injury to the tendon, e.g. the deep digital flexor tendon within the DFTS.
