Heat and lameness are associated with trauma or collapse of the carpal or tarsal bones.
Diagnosis
A prompt assessment and diagnosis is essential as most of the growth of the distal cannon
bones occurs within the first 2 months of a foal’s life. That of the distal radius and tibia
occurs in the first 4–6 months and treatment is most effective within this period of rapid
growth. However, many foals born with an angular limb deformity improve dramatically
