Physiotherapy can also play an important role in the restoration of function following

surgery. Many competition horses enjoy and benefit from physiotherapy as part of the
VetBooks.ir preparation before a competition as well as to assist recovery afterwards.

Physiotherapy treatments

These usually involve a combination of the following.

APPLICATION OF COLD AND HEAT (see below)

MANUAL TECHNIQUES

• Soft tissue and joint mobilization and manipulation (Figure 13.1).
• Stretching (Figure 13.2).

• Massage and myofascial release.
