        CLINICAL SIGNS

        Signs are rarely observed as the horse may die within minutes of ingesting the poison. They

        include:
        •    muscle tremors

        •    staggering

        •    convulsions

        •    difficulty breathing
        •    collapse

        •    rapid, weak pulse

        •    heart failure.



        TREATMENT


        The speed of death means that treatment is rarely possible. There is no antidote.



        PREVENTION
        It is essential to check hedges for the presence of yew. When discovered it should be fenced
