             Sometimes  tissue  known  as  omentum  (a  fold  of  peritoneum  that  contains  fat,  blood
        vessels and lymph nodes) will escape through the inguinal canal and hang from the wound

        (Figure 19.2). This is less serious and removal of the tissue may be all that is required.
